1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how JEdu (“JEdu”, “we”, “us”) handles personal and school information in connection with the JEdu cloud School ERP, the public website at jedu.in, school and parent portals, and related communication features.
JEdu is licensed to individual schools. Each participating school uses JEdu to manage its own students, staff, fees, attendance, admissions, and parent communication. In most cases the school decides what data to enter and how JEdu is used for that school.
By using JEdu or communicating with a school through JEdu-configured channels, you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the services and contact the relevant school or JEdu using the details below.
2. About JEdu
JEdu is a cloud School ERP that helps schools manage day-to-day operations, including student records, fees, attendance, admissions, academics, HR, a parent portal, and optional WhatsApp and other notifications. JEdu is operated from India. Our published address and contact details appear on the Contact page and in the website footer.
3. Information We Collect
The information JEdu holds depends on how a school configures and uses the platform, and on how you interact with JEdu or that school. It may include:
Student information
Schools may record names, admission numbers, class and section, dates of birth, gender, photographs, attendance, academic results, homework, certificates, and other education records the school chooses to store.
Parent / guardian information
Schools may record parent or guardian names, relationship to the student, phone numbers, email addresses, addresses, and portal login details so the school can communicate about fees, attendance, and school updates.
Teacher / staff information
Schools may record staff names, roles, contact details, attendance, leave, payroll-related information the school enters, and login credentials for school users.
Contact information
When you request a demo or contact JEdu through the website, we may collect school name, your name, phone number, email, city, student strength, and the message you send.
Account / login information
Usernames, role assignments, session data, and security-related logs needed to sign in to a school panel, parent portal, or related JEdu services.
Communication information
Notices, email, SMS where configured, in-app messages, support requests, and records of school-to-parent communications initiated through JEdu.
WhatsApp-related information
When an authorized school enables WhatsApp Business Platform / Meta WhatsApp Cloud API in JEdu, we may process phone numbers, template names, message content or previews, delivery-related identifiers (such as Meta message IDs), timestamps, delivery or read status when Meta provides them, inbound replies, and conversation history needed to operate school WhatsApp features (for example fee reminders, attendance alerts, announcements, and parent inbox chats).
Technical information
We may collect IP address, browser and device type, approximate access time, pages or features used, and server or application logs that help us operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. We do not use this policy to describe advertising tracking pixels; the public JEdu website uses session and similar technologies as described under Cookies.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide, host, and maintain each school’s JEdu workspace;
- enable school administration, parent portal access, and authorized staff workflows;
- send or display school communications that the school or an authorized user initiates;
- operate WhatsApp and other notification features when a school has configured them;
- respond to sales, demo, and support enquiries;
- protect accounts, investigate misuse, and keep the service available;
- meet legal, accounting, or contractual obligations; and
- improve reliability and understand aggregated product usage, without selling personal data.
JEdu does not sell personal data.
5. School and Educational Administration Data
Student, parent, and staff records in a school’s JEdu account are entered and controlled by that school. The school is responsible for having a lawful basis to collect and use that information, for informing families where required, and for deciding which modules (including WhatsApp) to enable. JEdu processes this information to provide the licensed ERP service to that school.
6. WhatsApp and Communication Services
JEdu may use WhatsApp Business Platform / Meta WhatsApp Cloud API to send and receive school-related communications when an authorized school has configured the integration. Typical uses include fee reminders, payment or receipt notices, attendance or homework alerts, exam-related notices, admission updates, and two-way parent conversations during an active chat window.
Messages are sent only through the school’s configured WhatsApp Business account and approved templates or session messages, as applicable. Recipients receive WhatsApp messages because the school (or JEdu acting on the school’s instruction) submitted a send request — not because JEdu independently markets to a public list.
If you do not wish to receive WhatsApp messages from a school, contact that school’s office or JEdu support so the school can update contact preferences in JEdu where the product supports it.
7. Meta / WhatsApp API Usage
When WhatsApp Cloud API is enabled for a school, Meta Platforms (WhatsApp) processes message content, phone numbers, and delivery events according to Meta’s terms and privacy policy, in order to route WhatsApp messages. JEdu stores identifiers such as message IDs and status updates when Meta’s webhook delivers them, so the school can see whether a message was accepted, delivered, read, or failed.
JEdu does not claim that Meta is a JEdu sub-processor in every legal sense in every country; Meta is the operator of WhatsApp. Use of WhatsApp is also subject to WhatsApp’s own terms. JEdu does not receive production WhatsApp webhook events from Meta unless the relevant Meta application and WhatsApp account are configured to deliver them.
8. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to run the service, including:
- with the school that owns the relevant JEdu workspace, and users that school has authorized;
- with service providers who host, email, or otherwise support JEdu under contract;
- with Meta / WhatsApp when a school sends or receives WhatsApp messages through JEdu;
- if required by law, regulation, or a valid legal request; or
- in connection with a business transfer, where the recipient is bound to protect the information consistently with this policy.
We do not sell personal information to third parties for their independent marketing.
9. Service Providers
JEdu uses infrastructure and software providers to host the application, store data, send email where configured, and deliver WhatsApp messages via Meta’s Cloud API. Those providers process information only to perform their services for JEdu or the school. We select providers we consider suitable for this type of workload and require appropriate handling of information through contracts or the provider’s standard terms, as applicable.
10. Data Security
JEdu takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. These include HTTPS for the public site and application, role-based access inside a school workspace, isolation of each licensed school’s environment as designed in the product, and restricted access to hosting and administration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We do not claim specific third-party security certifications in this policy unless they are separately published by JEdu.
11. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as a school’s JEdu workspace is active and as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal or accounting requirements. After a school ends its subscription, we handle workspace data as described in the Terms of Service (including a period during which the school may request export or deletion, subject to backups and legal holds). Website enquiry records and support correspondence may be kept as needed to follow up on sales or support.
12. User Rights and Choices
Depending on your role and applicable law, you may be able to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information. Parents and students should usually start with the school that holds the record. You may also contact JEdu using the details below. We will need enough information to identify you and the relevant school account. Some requests may be referred to the school when JEdu only processes data on that school’s behalf.
Dedicated deletion instructions are published at jedu.in/data-deletion.
13. Children’s / Student Data
JEdu is used by schools to administer education. Student information is collected because a school enrols the child and uses JEdu as its information system. We do not knowingly use JEdu as a consumer app directed at children independently of a school. Schools must only enter student data they are authorized to process. If you believe a child’s information was provided in error, contact the school and support@jedu.in.
14. Cookies and Similar Technologies
JEdu uses cookies and similar technologies that are needed to run the website and logged-in application — for example to keep a session signed in, remember security settings, and load the interface. We do not currently load third-party advertising cookies on the public marketing pages. You can block cookies in your browser; some features (especially login) will not work without them.
15. Third-Party Services
JEdu may link to or integrate third-party services such as Meta WhatsApp, payment or UPI flows a school enables, maps or font/icon CDNs used to display the website, and communication channels a school configures. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies. JEdu is not responsible for third-party sites you visit from a link.
16. International Data Processing
JEdu is offered from India. Information may be stored and processed on servers in India or in other locations used by our hosting or communication providers (including Meta for WhatsApp routing). If you access JEdu from another country, your information may be processed outside that country. We take reasonable steps appropriate to this service; we do not claim a specific cross-border certification in this policy.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of JEdu after an update means the revised policy applies to subsequent use. Material changes may also be communicated through the JEdu website or to school administrators.
